# Doppelgone vs Cisdem Duplicate Finder (2026 comparison)

> Doppelgone vs Cisdem Duplicate Finder, compared honestly: file types, Google Photos and iCloud, what each keeps, one-time price and where each is better.

Updated November 8, 2026 · https://doppelgone.app/guides/doppelgone-vs-cisdem-duplicate-finder

Cisdem Duplicate Finder is a desktop app for Windows and Mac that finds duplicate files of every kind, not only photos. Doppelgone does one job: duplicate, similar and burst photos. Its Chrome extension works inside Google Photos and iCloud Photos, and it also has apps for Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android. Cisdem reaches Google Photos only through a Google Takeout download, so anything you delete on your computer leaves the cloud library as it was. On price, Cisdem sells a one-year plan or a one-time licence for $39.99 on one computer, and Doppelgone Pro is one payment of $9.99 for up to 3 libraries.

We make Doppelgone, so for Cisdem we've stuck to what Cisdem's own pages say, checked on 8 November 2026. Prices are from Cisdem's buy pages, which show "$" without naming the currency. Features and prices change, so check them before you buy.

## Free options first

On a Mac, Apple's Photos app has a Duplicates collection under Utilities. Apple says duplicates appear there automatically, and Merge leaves one original in place of the group. Merged duplicates go to Recently Deleted, where you can recover them within 30 days. It only looks inside the Photos library, and Apple's page doesn't say it chooses between similar shots. For Windows, see [find duplicate photos on Windows 11](https://doppelgone.app/guides/find-duplicate-photos-windows-11).

Both Cisdem and Doppelgone have a free trial or plan, so you can scan before you pay.

## What Cisdem does well

- **Every file type.** Cisdem lists JPEG, PNG, HEIC, RAW formats such as CR2 and NEF, video, music, Office files, PDF and archives, and it also finds duplicate folders. Doppelgone only handles photos, and videos aren't part of its clean-ups.
- **Windows and Mac with one product.** Cisdem sells a Windows and Mac bundle, and both versions are on its site.
- **A one-time licence.** You can pay once for Cisdem and keep it, as well as choose a yearly plan.
- **Similar photos too.** Cisdem says it catches burst shots, edited versions and resized or compressed copies, and its Windows page also mentions scoring photos for quality.
- **Your choice of what happens to deleted files.** Cisdem says you can send them to the Recycle Bin or Trash, delete them permanently, or move them to a folder. You'll need to empty the bin to free the space.
- **Cloud drives.** Cisdem's pages list OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive and iCloud among the cloud drives it supports. They don't say how it reaches them, and they don't name Google Photos or iCloud Photos.

## Where Doppelgone is different

### Google Photos and iCloud Photos

Desktop finders, Cisdem included, work on files on your computer. Google's own help page says that downloading your data with Takeout doesn't delete it from Google's servers. So the method is: export your library, scan the download, then find and trash each result in Google Photos by hand. Deleting the downloaded copy changes nothing in the cloud. More in [duplicate photo finders for Google Photos compared](https://doppelgone.app/guides/duplicate-photo-finders-for-google-photos-compared).

Doppelgone's Chrome extension works on photos.google.com and icloud.com directly. Removed photos wait 30 days in Google Photos' trash or iCloud's Recently Deleted, with one-click Undo. See [delete duplicate photos in Google Photos](https://doppelgone.app/guides/delete-duplicate-photos-google-photos) and [delete duplicate photos in iCloud](https://doppelgone.app/guides/delete-duplicate-photos-icloud).

### Phones

Cisdem's site also lists a separate Duplicate Finder for Android and iOS in its product menu. We haven't compared it, so this page covers the Windows and Mac product only. Doppelgone has an iPhone app (iOS 17 or newer) and an Android app (Android 11 or newer) that clean the photos on the phone. The Android app doesn't clean Google Photos in the cloud; the Chrome extension does.

### Picking the best shot

In each set Doppelgone keeps the best shot and says why. Nothing moves until you approve it. It never touches favourites, videos, motion photos and Live Photos, or photos shared with you. Sets it is less sure about are marked "Your call".

### Price

Cisdem's one-time licence covers 1, 2 or 5 computers. Doppelgone Pro is $9.99 once, covers up to 3 libraries, and counts Google Photos and iCloud accounts, computers and Android phones together. The iPhone app's Pro is a separate in-app purchase at the App Store's price. Details are on the [pricing page](https://doppelgone.app/pricing).

## Who should pick which

**Pick Cisdem if:**

- You want to clear duplicate documents, music, video and photos from the same drives.
- You want one product on both Windows and a Mac.
- Your photos are already in folders on your computer, not in Google Photos.

**Pick Doppelgone if:**

- Your doubles are in Google Photos or iCloud Photos and you don't want to export your library first.
- You want the best shot picked for you, with the reason shown, and favourites and shared photos left alone.
- You need to clean photos on an iPhone or an Android phone.
- You'd rather pay once and not run a yearly plan.

**Use both** if you have a drive full of mixed files and a Google Photos library. Don't run two clean-ups on the same library at once, and review each one before you approve it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Cisdem Duplicate Finder work with Google Photos?

Not on the library itself, going by Cisdem's pages, checked on 8 November 2026. They list cloud drives such as Google Drive but don't name Google Photos. You would export your photos with Google Takeout, scan the download, and then delete each result in Google Photos by hand.

### Is Cisdem Duplicate Finder a subscription?

You can choose. Cisdem's buy pages show a one-year plan at $19.99 for one computer, and a one-time purchase at $39.99 for one computer. Doppelgone Pro is a single payment of $9.99, with no subscription.

### Does Cisdem have a free version?

It has a trial. Cisdem says the trial lets you scan, preview, locate and hide duplicates, but you can't delete all the selected duplicates with one click. Doppelgone's free plan scans everything and lets you clean up 200 photos in total.

### Does Cisdem upload my photos?

Cisdem says its similar-photo AI runs entirely on your device without uploading your files to any cloud or server. With Doppelgone, your photos never leave your device. The [privacy page](https://doppelgone.app/privacy) lists the little that does go to our server.

### Is it safe to delete the duplicates either app finds?

Yes, as long as one copy stays and you look at similar shots yourself, because those are different photos, not copies. Removed photos that go to a trash can be restored for 30 days. There's a checklist in [is it safe to delete duplicate photos](https://doppelgone.app/guides/is-it-safe-to-delete-duplicate-photos).

## What to do next

If your doubles are in Google Photos or iCloud Photos, [add Doppelgone to Chrome](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/pabeloccfbcecmhfagdjmdiekfcfadgb), open your library and run a free scan. For folders on a PC or Mac, or for a phone, get the app from the [download page](https://doppelgone.app/download). The free plan covers 200 clean-ups, and [Pro](https://doppelgone.app/pricing) is one payment if you need more.
