Privacy policy

Doppelgone is a Chrome extension that finds duplicate photos in your Google Photos library and, when you approve it, moves the ones you don't need to Google Photos' trash. Your photos never leave your device. Computron Tech (Pty) Ltd ("we") is responsible for the personal information described here.
Your photos stay on your device
Doppelgone looks at your photos on your own computer. Your photos, their details (such as file names, dates, places and albums) and your Google account email stay there. We never receive them.
What we collect, and why

What Doppelgone does in Google Photos
With your permission, Chrome lets Doppelgone work with photos.google.com while you're signed in. It reads your library and storage information, and moves to trash only the photos you approve. It never deletes anything permanently, never empties your trash, and never changes your photos, albums or sharing. You can restore anything from Google Photos' trash for 30 days.
Doppelgone suggests which photos to keep automatically. Nothing is moved without your approval, and you can change any suggestion.
Who we share it with
Only service providers who process it for us, on our instructions and under contract: cloud hosting and database providers, an AI service provider, and Polar, which sells Doppelgone as our reseller (merchant of record) and handles payments under its own privacy policy. When you buy, Polar receives the details you enter at checkout and your IP address. Some providers are outside South Africa and the EU, including in the United States; these transfers are protected by standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. You can ask us for a list of our providers. We don't sell personal information or use it for advertising or credit decisions.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use it only for Doppelgone's single purpose: finding and removing duplicate photos in your Google Photos library.
Your choices and rights
In the extension's Settings you can turn statistics off, delete everything Doppelgone stored on your computer, and delete your data on our servers. You can also email privacy@doppelgone.app to access, correct or delete your information, or to object to its use. You may complain to your data-protection authority; in South Africa, the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Our Information Officer is Johan Hamman.
Security and children
Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and we keep only what's listed above. Doppelgone is not directed at children under 16.
